Dandyhats assemble!

Image
Have I ever told you the story of the Dandyhats? No? It happened during my time working as a grudge keeper for the bands of dwarfs visiting the City of the Damned. "What's a grudge keeper", you ask? It's just someone who is in charge of keeping the Book of Grudges of the Dwarf bands up to date... One silver piece at a time! Most of the dwarf warbands visiting the city were not precisely skilled in the art of the quill. One day, I was helping an ogre leader with a love letter that he wanted to send to a "lady of the night" who rotated between the different camps every fortnite and toward whom he had developed some strong feelings... What? Stop judging me, you child! I would be a fool if I didn't take this kind of job instead of just killing time waiting for the next grudge! THERE IS NOTHING DISHONOURABLE ABOUT THAT KIND OF JOB! *Ahem* Please excuse me - that lad always gets to my nerves. Where was I? Oh, yes. So, I am writing a letter for this ogre when s

The Dandyhats: Therdrem Richpiece

Image
Therdrem discovered the raw power of gun powder when he was just a kid. And the truth is it was always a constant in his life: from an early age, he saw his father blowing up holes in the family mines with it; then, he always admired the skill of the Thunderers at the practice range of the keep;  until finally he ended up spending a great deal of his dad's money to purchase a harquebus. Therdrem's father was furious. Very embarrassed, he had to return the gun and then he cut Therdrem's access to the family money, granting him nothing more than a really tight allowance from that moment on. On a display of will, Therdrem managed to save enough money to purchase his own harquebus, albeit one rather more humble than the one he wanted. He practiced day and night to try and join the ranks of the

The Dandyhats: Dundur Trendbreaker

Image
Dundur stumbled upon Archibrum's entourage by chance, on the road that leads to the city of the damned. And it was like Archibrum and Dundur were a match made in heaven: Dundur loved the gang's whole attire and how well it matched his tattoos; and Archibrum fell in love with Dundur's tattoos and couldn't resist showing him his own body art. "- See? I got this one when I visited Cathay. These symbols mean "Strength" and "Courage". I got them so I never forget to live my best life". Dundur didn't really understand how someone would need a tattoo to remember something and just retorted: "- Mine protect me". Dundur is, quote, "obsessed" with all the frills, the quality of the linen, and the excellent manufacture of the warband's clothes. He always felt that, hadn't he taken the Slayer path, he would have been one of the biggest names in dwarven high fashion.

The Dandyhats: Gilbur "The brave" Itchyhead

Image
Gilbur was ironically dubbed "the brave" after an inglorious public incident with his wife. He made the mistake of trying to stand up to her, only to have her unleash her wrath upon him in front of everyone. That's how he became the target of the most embarrassing verbal shaming recorded in the dwarven kingdom's history. After this, he needed the thinnest chance to clear up his name and had desperately been looking for it. The moment Gilbur heard about Archibrum's expedition, he went to the family armoury and took a hammer he found buried under a bunch of other weapons. Little did he know that the hammer he found was none other than the long-lost Hammer of Duty. With the runes for "Hammer" and "Bravery" engraved on it, this hammer boosted the confidence of any dwarf who wielded it and turned him into the most daring fighter. Now, while he is wielding

The Dandyhats: Algerburn Mindaloof

Image
Our good Lord Archibrum heard that engineers are good fighters, so he obviously had to have one in his party. And so he sent his servants to search for an engineer. The first one they found who was willing to enlist in the warband was Algerburn Mindaloof, the latest engineer to have joined the court. They made a mistake, though: he was the wrong kind of engineer. Instead of being and expert crafter (and user) of firearms and war machines, he was what one would call a "project manager". But not a single member of the warband understood the difference, so they did not give it a second thought when Algerburn accepted to join the expedition. Neither money nor honour are things that would make Algerburn even think to join a group of entitled dwarves chasing a defunct notion of glory... However, while he was studying at the University of Moriemburg, he heard so many wonderful things about Mordheim's architecture that he couldn't say no the chance of visiting it! Algerburn i

The Dandyhats: Archibrum Cutestfrills - Dwarf Lord

Image
We all know already how Archibrum is - to quote his own father - "a spoiled little brat", how his quest shook the court top to bottom, and how he put together the most fashionable warband of all time. The trip to Mordheim was hard on the young lord. Accustomed to a courtesan lifestyle under the mountain, Archibrum was not used to the hard sun that hit the party during the first week of the trip. His skin turned red on the second day, and it has only gotten worse since. With the golden gun that his father gave him on his 125th birthday and with the clan's sword that he stole from his father (but never actually learned how to use), he felt invincible. However, the truth is that a sword in his hand is as dangerous to foes as it is to friends... Archibrum's beard is quite short for a dwarf his age. And, frankly, it seems to be shorter now than it was before they left. Even though no one dares say anything out loud, everybody in the band thinks that the reason behind t

The Dandyhats: Bilifor "The Trusted One" Liarmouth

Image
Everyone in the expedition to Mordheim trusts Bilifor. How couldn't they? He wears a helmet! And he tells all those war stories! Sadly for the group, there has been a little misunderstanding. The group sees Bilifor as being a tiny bit arrogant because he tells his stories in third person... But they don't realise this is simply because he is talking about his cousin Bilifor! When he realised his mistake, it was already too late, so he decided to just go with it. Now his sleep is troubled: he knows the group's respect for Bilifor can go down the rat-infested drain on the next skirmish...
